Pamlico Psychiatric Services welcomes Dr. Paul Garcia


    Beaufort Regional Health System Director of Marketing and Public Relations Pam Shadle reports that Dr. Paul Garcia has officially arrived to replace Dr. Thomas Penders as the lead psychiatrist at Pamlico Psychiatric Services in Washington. Garcia will also serve as the Medical Director of the Ray G. Silverthorne Crisis Center, Tideland Psychiatric Services and the Beaufort County Medical Center Behavioral Health Unit.

    Garcia is board certified in internal medicine and psychiatry and has a special interest in psychotherapy and family therapy. He received his medical degree from East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine in 2000 and completed his Internal Medicine and Psychiatry residency training programs at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, in conjunction with the Brody School of Medicine, in 2005. Garcia has an impressive list of awards and recognitions from the military, the Brody School of Medicine and the American Psychiatric Association, among others. He enjoys educating the community about mental health via speaking engagements and promoting psychiatric treatment to primary care clinics and other specialists.

    Pamlico Psychiatric Services provides medication management services for adult patients with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, dementia and post-traumatic stress. Office hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 5 p.m., by appointment.
